Frequently Asked Questions
What is GSTR-1? +
GSTR-1 is a monthly or quarterly return where you report all outward supplies (sales) made during the period. It must be filed by all regular GST taxpayers.
What is the difference between B2B and B2C invoices in GSTR-1? +
B2B invoices are sales made to GST-registered businesses — you must report customer GSTIN, invoice details and tax. B2C invoices are sales to unregistered consumers — reported in aggregate for invoices below ₹2.5L.
When is GSTR-1 due? +
Monthly filers must file by the 11th of the following month. Quarterly filers (turnover up to ₹5 Cr) must file by the 13th of the month after the quarter ends.
What is IGST vs CGST+SGST? +
IGST (Integrated GST) applies to inter-state supplies. CGST and SGST each apply to intra-state supplies — each is half the applicable GST rate. For example, 18% GST = 9% CGST + 9% SGST for intra-state.
Can I edit data after filing GSTR-1? +
You can amend GSTR-1 data in the next period return using the amendment tables. However, original invoices cannot be deleted after filing — only corrections are allowed.
